PC cant pick up my Ethernet cable.

my motherboard is a P8H61-M LE/USB3 and my wireless network adapter is a Atheros AR922X

i have the Ethernet cable plugged in my pc, but it still uses wirelss. when i take my network adapter out my pc i cant get any internet even though the Ethernet cable is plugged in. any idea whats causing this?

the cable inst damaged or faulty

i downloaded the latest driver, and yes to the other things. isnt it suppose to work even if i just plug the ehternet cable into my pc?

its the vigin media super hub.
