On the initial power up of a new build the bios settings main page shows an initial temperature of 42C thast then starts to rise rapidly. When it hit 60 I turned it off. Same behavior ever since. Reseated and regreased, etc. Called the tech guys at the store and they said to exchange the processor, sp I did. Same result.

AMD FX 6300 Black

MSI 970A G43

Corsair CX600 Power Supply

Any ideas? I am afraid to leave it running at this point.

Thanks!

When I had the MSI 970A-G46 I would run into the same issue as you. My temp's would be high in the bios, but once I got into the O.S. my temp's were normal. It's probably just a faulty reading. Try checking your temp's in the O.S. Worst case scenario is your pc will shut down to protect itself from overheating.

Sorry I said regreased, IO meant reapplied thermal paste. Yes, I initially used the thermal paste that came on the stock cooler. When I reapplied the paste I used IC Diamaod Thermal Compound as recommended by the tech at the store and the problem continued.

I built the exact same system not two days prior and encountered no such issues. It never exceeded 59C under 100% load with Prime95 blend in 2 hours.

Thanks
