Hey Guys! Should I buy a next gen console or a PC? I think the if I get a console you don't need to upgrade or doo anything as games will run for next 5-6 years. In PC i'd need to upgrade to run newer games right? So which is better buy?

Hi, I had a 1200$ 4-year old build (lynnfield cpu, 5xxx radeon gpu) and after I OC'ed everything still played games at relatively high settings 1080p ~50-60 fps especially if I lower anti-aliasing so I would say a new 1200$ PC -I would say with a 7970 or 770 and an i5-3570k(4680k?) or FX-8350 would give you very good performance for quite a long time. It also depends on the type of games you play and you preferences, in my humble opinion fps games especially multiplayer like BF series and strategy ones like Rome, Civ, C&C NEED to be played on PC whereas consoles have the advantage of certain titles that come only there, if you are fond of them. I also had a 360 but after some time same titles where so much better on PC in comparison...

Go console if: you have a limited budget, you only game, you want an entertainment device connected to your TV, you want console exclusives, you want to play games with more then one person at a time, you game casually.
Go PC: you have a large budget, are tech savvy, are willing to upgrade throughout the life of the consoles, want to achieve maximum quality, like keyboard/mouse gaming, will do other non-gaming PC tasks, don't need a home entertainment device connected to your TV or your a hardcore gamer.
I hope this helps!

Are you being serious? I've seen a few questions like this...

You cannot compare a console to a pc. You play on a console if you like the controllers and the games produced. You play on a pc if you like a keyboard and mouse and the games produced. Ofcourse you need to upgrade a pc more often to play the latest games in high detail.

Let's use BF3 as an example. It looks crap compared to pc, you can't aim properly with the controller and it's only 24 players. The PC version is 64 players, precise control with a mouse and the graphics are determined by your wallet size. Yes I am biased and I do have a ps3 but only for games like Uncharted etc.

In my opinion if you are asking this question, then you should buy the ps4.

Awesome build man! The 7970 is like real costly in my country[500$]. So any other alternatives? Also you think I'll be ok if I dont upgrade till 2-3 years. I'd be able to run games at medium settigns?

Hmm well you could go with the radeon 7950 or the GTX 760 islf you can get those for cheaper! They will probably cost less, hut will perform worse. High-ultra today and probably medium to high over the next few years. That being said, I might wait until AMD releases their 9xxx series in October/November. Hope this helps.

For $1200, you can build a helluva rig. Buy a microATX motherboard that supports higher clocked ram. Get an i5, 3rd or 4th gen. 8 gigs of ram. Buy a quality power supply, 750 watts gold rated. Buy cheap case, or salvage one. Most important spend as much as you can on the gpu. For a monitor, i like this! or just build that rig the guy posted above me. Also holy shiznit, I cant wait for the Hawii.
