Hi there guys,

So here is my question how many of you have wondered the same thing?
If not allot let me know anyway.

So why are most high end mice, keyboards only USB 2.0? Where is the 3.0? Hmmm for example Razer Nostromo was 2.0, the Orbweaver and the new Tartarus are both 2.0 as well.

They do have Synapse 2.0 but that is merely software to help with configuaration.

IS USB 2.0 not needed or what is the actual reason peripherals don't have it?

I merely used Razer as an example because they are rather mainstream if I had to name every peripheral company the list would be quite long... :)

Keep well and I await your replies.

USB3 drivers aren't integrated into motherboard BIOS' yet, so if you plugged your USB3 Mouse/Keyboard into a USB3 slot (as would make sense) they wouldn't work. Hence why they are USB2.
That and they simply don't need the extra bandwidth and its probably cheaper to have a USB2 connection.

Good guy Falloutboy to the rescue. Thanks man, I beg to differ I think the extra bandwith would help allot with pro gaming and especially mulitplayer fps, strategy gaming.

I wasn't aware of the BIOS though so thanks for clearing it up.

Does more lanes on a highway make one car get to a place faster?
Does more lanes on a highway make one hundred cars get to a place faster, as opposed to less?

When it comes to extra bandwidth, think wider and not faster.

Bandwidth =/= Speed, unless your in a situation where you have insufficient bandwidth.
I know some guys have wicked fast APM's, but it would be humanely impossible to bash keys fast enough (generating 1 Byte of data per keystroke) to saturate USB2.

You see it as more lanes I see it as a better road, a gravel road, a tar road, a nice flattened highway like the autobahn. ;)  but I see your point, I doubt you would see mine as you don't live in a country with relatively slow internet and unreliable speeds.

Australia mate, we got some bad internet speeds down here. About the best you can get on a residential connection is 2Mbps, though thankfully my area is going to be getting Fiber soon (and so will the rest of Australia provided a certain opposition leader doesn't get elected  ).

At least its reliable though, I hear stories from some South African family friends that its not too uncommon for people to just rip internet cabling out of the ground and sell it for scrap, same with power lines as well apparently.

I envy you if you do indeed get the fibre. :)  I hope you do...

As for what you heard, lets just say that wouldn't be the strangest thing I have heard. Our telecommunications company doesn't replace any stolen telephone cables anymore they just leave them to get stolen once they are inactive now. So god have mercy on you if you are not living in the city because you will have to revert back to postage for communications :p
