Hey Everyone,

I have a delima. I bought a rig with two graphics cards, and when I received the product I saw that for some reason one card was slightly damaged and sent it in for replacement. The problem ensued when I got the replacement card, but first here are my system stats:

Motherboard: GA-970A-UD3 (rev. 1.1)
CPU: AMD FX-8150 @ 3.6 GHz
GPU: "Dual" AMD XFX R7770 (crossfire)
Power Supply: 1,000 watt

The card that I got back is a AMD XFX R7700 series card (shorter body, but similar build). I've been using my computer for multiple weeks using the original AMD XFX R7770 card, so I know the system runs great by itself. I got the new card, plugged it into the motherboard, attached the six-pin connector, connected the crossfire tab, and then the system would not turn on.

I then unplugged the six-pin connector, turned the system on, and once I had logged in reconnected the six-pin, and immediately the system shut down. I tried switching the cards places in the motherboard to no effect.

I then took out the functioning card ( AMD XFX R7770) and used solely the replacement card (AMD XFX R7700 series) and the system would not turn on.

I don't know how to get this card to work. Help me tech wizards! Thanks in advance.

Simple Solution -

First Card (Older) works with exactly same configuration and wirings and other card does not work with same then newer card is faulty.
No you also can not do anything to fix that and you need yet another replacement.

Doesn't matter if LEDs are glowing or fans are spinning or not, if there is no display on screen with 2nd card (But it is with 1st card) then card is certainly faulty...

If you believe there has to be something else causing issue (Which most likely isn't) then sorry I have got no clue ...

Does original card work using the 6-pin power cord you were using on replaced card?
Does the replaced card still not work with the 6-pin power cord you were using on the original card?

If both are yes, then you might have another faulty card.
If not, then idk =[

Hi Connor,

Yes to both of your questions, which as you say doesn't bode well for the replacement card... The only thing that's keeping me going is that the system itself powers up (LEDs, fans on graphic cards, etc), but nothing happens onscreen. I get absolutely no response. The monitor says no signal.

So the card is responding. When I attach the six pin connector (tried both, and both work) the graphics card fan fires up, but at the same time the system dies or doesn't work/respond. Might this be a motherboard issue?
