I just bought a Synology DS 1513+_ NAS Server. I Desperately need to buy a UPS + Surge . I was looking at Synology's Compatabiliuty list and there aren't many APC units that are compat. So the next best thing I cold find for the money ,and is on the list is a Cyberpower CP1350PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS 1350VA 810W for $160
which is in my price range. They have the same model excpt its an AVRL instaed of a PFC for $30 dollars less, but from what I've read , Pure Sine wave Power is a better power supply hatn the AVRL which is a step power form.
So my question is would I be better off spending the extra $30 bucks?
And, does this server have to connected thru a USB port or can I plug it into the battery+ surge outlet?
Any help would be Great! I need an answer quickly, because at the end of Aug, we get a lot of thunderstorms and power outages and I want to be ready!
So I'd appr3eciate any help on the subject as soon as possible.
Thank You for listening!

Thanks Very Much!!!
I really appreciate the answer. I would have never fifured that out, reason being the server I bought really doesn't come with much support. ahhh that's not really true. They do offer it, but you have to email them with the question and they emailk u back a day later. TRhe thing that sux about that is, what if u come up with another question pertaining to the same theing your dealing with, but you cant just send another email. you have to supply them with a support ticket.
I mean when you pay Over a$100 Bucks for a 5 bay server and 5 3tb hd's, you would think they would have a hotline to help you get setup and Protected correctly!!!

Well, I Really want to thank You for that answer. because I figured it was one or the other, not both!
So TY Again.........you were a Giant help to me!!!

Can I ak you one more question please?
I have a POS Dell XPS 9100. And iu've read where another persons review on the cyber P{ower AVRL model of a UPS ,and his PC just shut right down. So he purchased the same wattage UPS , but he got the PFC model which puts out Pure Sine Wave Power and hid PC then stayed on so he could safely shut it down.
And it only cost an extra $39 bucks. So I guess I answered my own question there. But what I'm concerened aqbout more than my PC shutting down correctly, is my Synology to shut downb properly.
On Synmo's website the do have a compatability list of which ups's work with them. And they bhave the PFC model listed, nut it's the 1000 model (600) watts. I need the next model up which gives you , so 2 models up, the PFC 1500 which gives you 900 watts. The unfortunate thing is that where I'm buying it from is the cheapest I can get it, but they wont let you return it due to shipping regs, because of the batteries. So I'm a bit stuck as u can c.

But TY Again for your first answer..........It was Exactly the info I needed.

TY Home Brew!

I went with the CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS 1500VA 900W PFC Compatible Mini-Tower .

Reason being is that I have a Dell XPS 9100 ( not for long, I'm in the proc of a new build). The Dell PSU requires a pure sinewave UPS ccording to an answer I got from Synology's Forum. Like I said in the 1st question, APC did'y have many UPS's theat are compat witrh the Dell and the Synology DS 1513+.
So I went with the one I put up top. So far, so good. ecxept that I had a few power flickers nd the Dell shut, Figures, but the Syno stayed powered up.Unfortunately,
when stalled the software that same with the UPS, the Dell stayed it had to be conn with a usb cable. To me, the sinology is more important,so it's getting plugged into that system. You would think that when hooked into the Dell, you would be able to control Both devices?
Maybe I have the power settins set wrong on the Dell, but it shouldn't rstart when I lose power for 2 seconds.Sorry abot the spellin, but when u try to correct it, it deletes the next letter wghen u try to chang e it.weird!!!!

I mean I bought a 900 watt UPS to keep the Dell which has a 525 watt Psu and another 65wattsfor my GPU 200 watts for the Synology
25 for my router and 15 for my modem, o n the monitor another 12volts so i'm in range for this setup, but my new build, not even close. It's gonna cost me around $500 bucks for a psu just for my pc

TY Again,
