Hi I have got my New system whose spec is given below,

Processor- Intel® Xeon® Processor E5645 -2 NOS (Dual CPU),
CPU cooling- Intel Heat sink.
MotherBoard- Intel® Workstation Board S5520SC
Ram- 64GB Transcend 8*8GB ECC 1333Mhz Ram
GPU- ATI RADEON 7850 2GB
HDD- Kingston 240 GB SSD Drive
HDD- 2TB WD Caviar Green
LG DVD Combo Drive
Cabinet- Prime Source Server Chassis.

Now my question is,

How to properly configure my system, so that I can pull out its maximum performance. My main activities are 3d rendering and little video editing. And my main applications are Luxology MODO, 3ds Max, After effects and Blender. I would like to get the answers more in particular like following,

1) I would like to install Windows ultimate 64Bit. Should I need to do take care any special care while installing Win7 , as this is a server kind of system. What additional drivers I have to install after installing the Win7?

2) Will I benefit from setting up a RAID

3) If so, How to set up a simple RAID using the hardware listed above. (Any tutorial)?

4) Should I tweak any RAM setting, to get more performance?

overall any comments regarding overall performance boost of the system is appreciated.

I hope this community will give me the answers.

Thanks
Muthu

Ouch, you got Caviar Green. Definitely not ideal. Blue or Black are what you should've gotten.

Black is for performance. Blue is a balance between the two others. Green is just slow and

not good to have. You should check the RAM too, yes, to make sure it's running at its designated

speed.
