I recently got a netgear wgr614v7 and i immediately regretted the decision. I have 100 mbps internet and connect through pppoe on my acer aspire 5336, after connecting and setting up the router the first thing i noticed was that the speed was capped at 2 mbps and the internet connection behaved like 56k modem, google taking 30 seconds to load. I tried forwarding a port for utorrent, reinstalling drivers for wireless, setting up a different pppoe connection, nothing worked the only thing i didn't try was to reset the main modem/switch since i don't have acces to it (outside and locked). What should i do next ? Should i call the internet company and tell them to reset the main modem/switch for me ? Any suggestion is much appreciated

Well that's how internet companies operate in my country, they don't want you to access their equipment so it's outside the house in a locked cabinet. I did a speed test with direct connection to the pc and it was over 10 MBps and working fine but i forgot to do one while the router was connected to the pc through it's cable. I did however run multiple speed tests in wireless mode and it hits a wall at 2 MBps (i mistyped mbps in the initial post) and the connection is bad to say the least, it takes a very long time even to open google, i suspect huge packet loss. Momentarily i gave it to a friend of mine to test it on his connection so i can at least know if it's hardware related.
