Can I put ssd drive in laptop without bracket?

This ssd (samsung 840 pro 128gb)

Solution
I did a quick googling on this particular laptop and it appears that adding a drive can be quirky. Again this has nothing to do with the type of drive SSD or HD, you don't have to do anything additional for an SSD. According to the info I see this model has only two bays. From there it depends on the configuration of your particular laptop. Some come with everything you need to install another drive and some require you to buy a bracket and a connector for the drive. Keep in mind this is just a cursory examination, the MSI forums are your best bet to install another drive successfully, it appears that it may require more than just the standard install steps.

My laptop msi gt60 has 3 spaces for hard drives

So, can I put it with the original hard ( hdd ) without a baraket

And what is the danger if I put it without a bracket?

Each laptop manufacturer has a drive caddy that fits the laptop chassis - remove your current HDD from that caddy (likely a couple of screws) and replace it with the SSD. In terms of "will it fit", the SSD might be slightly thinner but the screw holes should line up.

Hi,

Since SSDs do not have moving parts and will only get affected in the most extreme cases of movement (High Gs), you can put it there without a bracket.

However, make sure the ssd doesn't move (wiggle) in the case since this might disconnect the ssd during movement or even worse damage or break the connectors. you can just make it a snug fit with some paper or foam without any issues.

The brackets are whatever the manufacturer uses to hold in the regular drive. For example I swapped out the HD on mine for an SSD. The regular HD is held in by a bracket so all I had to do is remove that and put in the SSD. I've done this on a number of laptops and it's the same for all. Some systems do have extra slots for drives that may be missing the appropriate bracket for even a regular HD but that would be manufacturer specific and isn't something specific to SSDs.

But I don't want to replace the hdd with ssd

I wanna put both of them

So if I just keep the original hdd with its bracket and put the ssd in the other slot without a bracket is that will be fine? And is there will be danger for ssd if I don't put it with a bracket in the other slot ?

Okey

Now I just called the msi service center and they told me there's no brackets for ssd's they selling they just saying put the ssd normally and if you moving a lot put some sort of foam to make it not moving (for stability)

Thank you all guys
