Ive had my 8350 OCed for some time now and i have absolutely no trouble while gaming and other general PC use. I have a Phanteks dual tower cooler and from coretemp + HWinfo64 im getting around 30-36c depending on the game and 44c in Prime95.

But there is another Temp reading in HWinfo64 under the Nuvoton heading that reads a much higher CPU temp. I also noticed that in Prime95 when this higher reading says im at 60-62c in coretemp i can see the multiplier go down from x21.5 to x7 for about 15 seconds. Then this just repeats.
I am also getting the same higer reading in speedfan.
Which temperature do i read from? Why is my CPU throttling?

Windows7 64 bit
8gb ddr avexir 1600
7950 HiS boost 1150/1550
corsair 600w builder
corsair 600T with Bitfenix replacement fans
fx 8350
Asrock 970 extreme 3
Phanteks ph-tc14pe

If your CPU is throttling, it's thermal throttling. If you go to a more aggressive cooler, you should be fine.

A few I would recommend personally would be something like the Zalman CNPS9900 MAX, or the Noctua NH-D14 for air cooling (the Cooler Master V8 GTS gets an honorable mention here as well).

If you want to go to water cooling, the kraken x60 is about as good as those get without doing a custom loop.

I also have a 8350, but on Asrock 990FX Extreme3, it tends to downclock when heavily stressed...
I have researched that it must be VRM issue that the motherboard don't have sufficient amount of wattage to supply the cpu then downclocks... (some Motherboard has High Perfomance Computing function that allows heavy load and not downclock)
I have locked the cpu to only have 6 cores and 4.2Ghz with 1.325 voltage then it doesn't downclock on heavy load...
I will also want to upgrade my motherboard that can handle 220 Watts for the cpu... (like the ones that support FX 9xxx series, Asrock 990FX Extrme9, supports 9xxx series)
But will do after some months (at least 2 months).... Planning for GFX and PSU first ...

But haven't found confirmation yet, if it really is VRM issue... Short Wattage that only 140 Watts can be supplied, I know the AMD Cpu's can have higher over all and Peak than Intel in Wattage... (think of 8 cores and lower effiency)

Thanks for all that input guys! I was also thinking it was the lacking on my motherboards VRM/MOSFET. Ive read that you shouldnt even bother OCing the 8350 on 4+2 power phase. I dont tihnk its a heat problem as i have a great case with top notch fans and as stated in my post i get around 44c max on prime.

Maybe its time for me to get a new mobo then?

Been looking at the gigabyte ud3/5/7 and the asus m5a99x evo rev 2

I dont think cooling is the problem as i have a 600T case and the Phanteks flagship cooler which generally comes first in performance, sometimes beating H100i

All of the boards you mentioned are fine for overclocking.
