My Hard drive (2 weeks old) has developed a clicking noise but it is still functioning so I have decided to back everything up.
I am using windows 8 pro and I have created a system repair disk and have backed up the whole hard drive onto an external hdd using the windows 7 file recovery section of control panel. Is this enough to allow me to completely reinstall windows 8 onto a new hdd if the one I am using now fails me?

Solution
If it's 2 weeks old and is clicking, replace it now and restore onto the new drive. I would test the backup before sending the drive away though and also make sure you wipe it before sending it for replacement. No sense waiting for it to fail. The vendor may tell you to run some diagnostics on it to test things. Sometimes drives develop a noise and it does not cause any issues. Some Seagate drives made quite a bit of noise especially during long seek operations.
