New Memory Choice

Hi,

I've been having alot of issues with my RAM and blue screens. My current memory, corsair vengeance 16gb 1866Mhz (CMZ16GX3M2A1866C9), isn't compatible with my AMD-FX8350. I have found other forum posts around the web with people having exactly the same issue.

NOTE: I have run this memory at 1333Mhz and 1600Mhz, still with BSODs.

I have decided, after months of trying to fix my issue, to look into new memory that will run better, however I am not sure which to go for.

I would like to know if going with corsair vengeance again (its really cheap at scan.co.uk) is a good choice, running at 1600Mhz with either 2x8gb or 4x4gb.

Also if corsair vengeance isn't going to be a good choice, what would you recommend instead, just make sure it's not 1866mhz or above.

Thanks for reading! :)

Edit: Forgot to mention my mobo it is ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.

Well, the RAM doesn't need to be compatible with the CPU, it has to be compatible with the MOBO. These blue screens isn't unlikely to be the RAM, its more likely to be something to do with the MOBO.

I had a PC which had the same RAM and CPU you are using and I had no issues, so I'm sure that your MOBO is playing up. But it could be a virus in your PC, I did have an issue with a PC when it would crash even though the specs are amazing! So here are the three possibilities :

1. MOBO playing up
2. Virus in the Hard Disk
3. RAM not compatible with the CPU

And if you buy new RAM get it 4x4GB RAM, its much better performance

Well I've already RMAed my mobo and got a replacement to try and fix the issue, with no luck. Also it turns out my memory isn't on the QVL list, although some very similar models are.

As for the possible virus, probably a quite slim possibility, as I've have Norton, and also I've formatted my PC around 3 or 4 times since building it. Last format was 2 months ago I think.

Also I'll look into 4x4, any specific recommendations?

Have you tried running the DRAM at 1600, some of the CPUs have trouble with 1866 over 8GB which is what they were tested at, but using 4GB sticks...for your current set would try setting freq to 1600 base timings to 9-10-9-27, Command timing to 2T or 2N and DRAM voltage to 1.55, also raise CPU/NB voltage to 1.2 ---- if you want to try other sticks suggest 1600 GSkill Snipers,
