To be honest I don't know the ramifications of that. You should have installed these drivers when you installed the OS. To tell you simply, about this specific issue, AMD Switchable graphics is ONLY available on a AMD Vision system. This is a system with a AMD CPU, AMD Northbridge Chipset, and a AMD Video Card. Your system is anything but that, with a Intel CPU and Intel Northbridge and a AMD Video Card. HP had to take the AMD generic driver and alter it so it will work on your system. Installing a generic driver (one from Microsoft, AMD, or any third party) simply will NOT have that capability.
With that explained a little, and to expand on the issue, HP made that notebook they understand it and know it better than anyone else. They developed these drivers around the hardware they provided. You need to install ALL of the drivers that HP has provided for you, so EVERYTHING (not just the video card) will work correctly and with all of its features. This is usually best done FIRST THING after you make it to you desktop, and before your computer ever even sniffs the internet. This will ensure that it works as needed.
