hi everybody from Tucson. I want to build a dedicated PC for MechWarrior 2, 3, & 4. i'm looking for the best way to go about building a gaming pc. I still have an old HP pc that's running Windows ME but it's got integrated audio and graphics and a 900mhz Celeron cpu. I got that computer when I started college back in 2001. I would like to know what's the best hardware I can get(and I realize i'm going to be digging around on the internet for all this stuff.) and use, along with what custom case I can use. i'm thinking of getting the Asus P4P800 mobo in an asua ta230 case for starters but was wondering if that's overkill for what i'm planning on doing. I know i'm going to be limited to 512mb ddr-400 ram, just want to know what hardware I should be looking to use. I've tried using the method found on youtube to play MechWarrior 2 on my windows 7 pc but found that it was too much of a hassle and my computer did not like it. that led me to make the decision to start looking into building a gaming pc specifically for the old MechWarrior games. I may also use this pc to run the old Diablo and StarCraft games.

Rather than building a PC to play these older games, which would not be cost efficient, I'd be looking at purchasing an older system (something along the lines of a Dell GX270/GX280). A system like that should be more than enough for your gaming needs and should not cost you an arm and a leg (I purchased my old GX270 for $10).

That is one way for me to go but I did find back-issues of maximum pc that supplied build lists that I could base my build off of. I would say this thread is solved and maximum pc supplies back-issues through google books.
