I have my gaming/production pc running 2 monitors, one is at my desk which im using for producing music, the other is my tv which is for gaming and that is connected to hdmi on my graphics card.

I want to be able to plug in my beats headphones to the headphone port on the pc without losing audio on the tv, id also like to have the control to turn down the tv audio without losing any sound on my headphones

does anyone know how i can do this because when i plug in my headphones now, the sound goes from the tv.

Solution
Your HDMI connection is seen by the system as a different sound card. You can leave your onboard sound card as default, providing audio to your heaphones, and set your media programs to output audio to your HDMI device. That setup will let you have the 2 volume settings as you wish.

Just keep in mind that only one device can be the "default sound device", to wich every sound is routed by default. If you absolutely need everything to be played at the same time in your headphones and TV, you will probably need an external device.
