Hello everyone
First time posting here, although I have found the forums very helpful in the past.
I'm having trouble installing a nVidia Quadro NVS 450 by PNY on my HP Pavilion p7-1298c Desktop. The computer beeps 6 times, then it seems to Boot (Front light stays white, as opposed to turning orange). There's no signal to the monitor through the nVidia NVS 450 nor the integrated graphics card. (I'm aware that once you install a PCIe card, onboard graphics are automatically disabled).
Here's some of the things I've tried so far:
1) Replaced power supply, the one that comes with the desktop is 300w peak, so I tried with a 375w peak from another desktop I have. Same 6 beeps. Although if I remove the Quadro NVS 450, the PC boots normally using the onboard graphics. I read on some forums that the minimum PSU recommended for this card is 350W. I know that depends on the other components, though I don't have anything ultra power hungry.
2) I tried the nVidia Quadro NVS 450 on an older desktop (Dell Precision 390) and it works just fine. (With Both PSU, I might Add)
3) I put two different PCIe graphic cards, a nVidia GT640 and Radeon HD 7570, both work fine, even with the original PSU.
4) I saw in this post (http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1632409/disable-onboard-graphics-msi-7778-jasmine.html) about the Legacy support enable setting on the BIOS, but it seems that's only available for computers with Windows 8. Unless I need to update my BIOS. Current Version is 7.11. I tried looking on the MSI website and HP website for BIOS updates, but there's none. MSI won't even find the mobo. Weird.
I thought it may be a compatibility problem, being that the card is older, but both the motherboard and graphics card say they support PCIe 2.0. (and either way, PCIe is supposed to be backward and forward compatible)
I know I'm missing something, but I do not know what it is. It's driving me nuts.
Anyone have any Ideas as to why is not working?
