Can you do much tweaking on a laptop/notebook?

I just bought an Acer Aspire V3-571G-9686, to be specific.

It came with a stick of 4GB A-Data and 2GB of Kingston. Both DDR2-1333.

I had the tech at the store verify the maximum speed the model supported. He said it supports up to 1600MHz RAM. So I went ahead and replaced both sticks with 2 4GB stick of HyperX 1600MHz with CAS Latency of 9 cycles.

Unfortunately, when I replaced the RAM, I discovered it's stuck running at 1333 CL9.

Is there any way I can have it run at either the 1333 CL7 or 1600 CL9 that it supports? I have basically no BIOS options.

Okay, so I guess the main benefit would be really cool, really stable operation. Which is good considering I use RAM as a RAM disk and a 1GB cache for the SSHD.

Yeah, I thought two different brands was a little strange, which was one reason I just went ahead and replaced both.

If I can find an unlocked BIOS somewhere, that would be killer. The only option I really have on this computer is secure boot, AHCI/IDE mode, and Boot order. It's total bull.

I suppose I can't complain, since I got this thing for only about 600 bucks.
