Can't overclock higher (No, not the temps)

Hello,

I've been wondering why I can't overclock any higher. I have overclocked my Q6600 to 2.5 Ghz but it won't go any higher. No matter how much I go. It just turns off and I have to restart it and go back into BIOS and change it back. Why can I only overclock by 100 Mhz?

I thought I don't have to because I only aim to overclock to 3 Ghz. Do I have to raise them for 600 Mhz?

Overclocking is never guaranteed. It's possible that even the slightest increase in frequency needs a voltage increase.

Is FSB at 1333? need it to get to 3GHz, and CPU voltage at maybe 1.3 - 1.32

It's at 278x9. Did I do something wrong?

EDIT: I have a GA-EG41MF-US2H (rev 1.1)

To hit 3 GHz the FSB need to be a min of 1333

Well, actually, if I go any higher than I am at the moment, my computer won't boot. I have to go back and change it back to 278.

Then may need more vCore, the FSB at 1333 takes the Q up to exactly 3GHz, a 1600 FSB will take you to 3.6GHz

Okay, I'm kinda new to ovrclocking. How much do I have to raise the Vcore?
