I will be building a new system soon, here are the specs:

FX6300
Asus M5A97 R2.0
Kingston HyperX 1866Mhz 2x4GB
Sapphire 7950 with boost
Corsair CX600
...
A Single 1680x1050 monitor

I will try to overclock the 7950 and get from stock 850/925 boost to somewhere between 1Ghz and 1,1Ghz,i'll see the temperatures.
What i want to ask is do i need an aftermarket cooler and an overclock of the cpu?
I don't need that extra performance from the cpu,but i'm afraid i will run into bottleneck with that OCed GPU and the FX6300... Will I? Keep in mind i only use an 1680x1050 monitor..

Solution
Nah that CPU won't bottleneck that GPU, even if you OC the GPU.

The biggest CPU impact on gaming performance is how many cores the game title can use. Older 1-3 core games will benefit from a good OC.

Newer titles like Crysis3, FarCry3, Arma, Metro will use 4-6 cores and even at stock speeds will perform nicely on a 6300.

By way of comparison, I have a Phenom II x6 1090T @ 4.0GHz on a 990FX board driving a pair of OCd HD 7950's in crossfire and Crysis 3 will max both GPUs before it maxes that CPU. But it is a good match, as the CPU hits the 80-90% usage range across all 6 cores when the GPUs are at 95-99%. This is at MAX settings, 2x SMAA, 1080p averaging 40-60 FPS, VSYNC capped @ 60. When I drop to 1 card with the same settings...

Yes, you WILL need an aftermarket cooler to OC. You can get a simple one from $20, up to $100, etc. It doesn't matter. My recommendation for a cheap, but powerful, is the Cooler Master Hyper 12 EVO.

I don't think you should run into a bottleneck. Maybe in some games.

Get a good cooler though if you OC. A Hyper 212 EVO is a good budget cooler with excellent performance and more than enough to cool that 6300.
