Hi everyone, I'm most of the way through my first build which I'm having to buy components for as and when I can afford them...
All I have left are CPU and cooler.
I'm going for the i5 4670k which will live on the MSI Z87 G45 mobo, and I have Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer RAM (with the funky LEDs).
I've been trying to find a CPU cooler that will deal with heavy gaming, light to moderate OCing, won't be TOO loud and will not block (visually and physically) the RAM.
I have noticed that Scan sell manufacturer refurbished H60/80/100s for £30/35/40 with 90day warranties.
Seems like a good deal but as this is a first build I'm nervous that it might be an idiotic move.
Does anyone have much experience with these coolers, and specifically refurb ones?
I would really appreciate any help to put my mind at ease!!
Thanks in advance :)

Solution
Scan are a good company and with a 90 day warranty you may as well pick up a H80 or H100 and invest in a new one. Very good customer service at Scan and then would not sell products which are deficient, well not on intentionally. BOTH coolers will allow for stable overclocking.

The H series coolers are extraordinarily loud....a top end air cooler will be about 19dB ..... H100 is 38dB at best (some been measured at 60)

However, this performance comes at a cost; noise. At 2600RPM, the H100 isn’t a quiet unit at all and similarly at 2000RPM, it can still be quite intrusive. In terms of performance per noise, high end air coolers from Phanteks, Noctua and Thermalright still reign supreme, contrary to Corsair’s own marketing. Like other ALC units, the H100 relies too much on high RPM fans for its performance when the goal of water cooling is generally for extreme performance at low noise levels
