New build as of today...

Asus Crosshair Formula-Z Motherboard
Corsair Dominator Platinum 8x2gb 1600mhz
Samsung 840 Pro 256gb
AMD FX 8-Core CPU 4ghz
XFX R7950 3gb Double Dissipation Video Card
TR2 RX 750W Bronze Power Supply

Finished up today putting it together, everything seems to be in ordered. Trippled checked it already but the system will shut off and the only way for me to turn it back on is to flip the power switch on the power supply.

Really noticed it when I tried running 3DMark. After the 2nd try, opened the case, touched the board of the video card and it was extremely hot!

Am I right into thinking that the vid card is over heating? If so, how can I keep it down, or is this something that needs to be RA'd back to XFX?

Just saw the same thing too. If you can borrow a quality PSU from a friend or something, I would probably try that first. If it's still having problems with the borrowed PSU, then you are probably on...

Did you look at the fan on the video card to make sure it was turning?

And ya, I should have mentioned both fans are spinning on the video card.

Just tried Youtube, the temp never changed, I'm playing Indian Jones & The Raiders of the Lost Ark in the background (BluRay quality) and the temp has yet to rise.

Now I'm confused, perhaps I should run 3DMark again and see what happens with the temp of the GPU and CPU?

P.S. CPU is at 45C while running the BluRay movie.

Just checked XFX's website to see what they have for info about over heating and this is what was in their FAQ...

"Normal operating temperature should be 30~95 Celsius. Most cards will idle in the 40's or 50's Celsius, and when under a gaming load run in the 70's to 80's . If running an extreme stress test or using the GPU to do OpenCL calculations the card can run into the lower 90's."

So does that mean that its possibly not the video card and I've been focusing on the wrong problem?

I hope its not the PSU, that was not part of my budget for this new build since I had bought the PSU and the Tower back in January and I had been using it with my other, older build.

What can I do to determine if its the PSU, or possibly the MOBO?

AND, if its the PSU after all, suggestions on a good priced one?

So installed my old Radeon 5770, ran 3dMark, and completed it with no shut downs.

So, does this confirm its the VCard, or is there still a chance that the PSU could be the issue being that, that card requires less power than the beast I had installed before?

I decided to skim the net to see what others have felt about this card and when I stopped off at NewEgg, I knew I was going to return it after reading the comments there. MANY people have dealt with over heating, shut downs, etc. with the video card I have.

I tried going to XFX's website to submit an RMA before I did discover other people's issues and I couldn't even do that. Where it asked to select the serial # I couldn't, there was nothing to pick, and in the Model # box I couldn't type. I'm done with XFX before I even started.

It's possible that the PSU can't supply the power that your new card requires. One way to test to see if it's the PSU is to swap it with another quality PSU and run the same tests again.

Just saw the same thing too. If you can borrow a quality PSU from a friend or something, I would probably try that first. If it's still having problems with the borrowed PSU, then you are probably on the right track in terms of replacing the GPU.

I don't really have any good recommendations for a replacement as I'm still using a 6570. Hopefully someone else can provide some insight into that. :)
