Ram Issue with Asus Maximus vi hero mobo

Hi everyone, I recently purchased some parts for my build and was done building it when I found out the the cp would not boot. I got an error code on the mobo lcd and when I looked up the message, it stated: "Memory initialization error. Invalid memory type or incompatible memory speed". I checked and saw that my type of Ram was on the qualified vendors list for this motherboard. I am not able to boot into bios, the mobo lights up, shows the error code, and the fans keep on running. I have already tried using the "memok" feature on this board to no avail. Anyone got any suggestions?

  1. Rig looks good but you have a broken link, and it's the DRAM :( What model ? and is it a single package)
  2. Looks like it might be the Corsair 4x4GB 1600? Yes/No? Check that you have the latest BIOS, then ensure all sticks are firmly seated, one of the Hero's I built had slots that were a bit tight, go into BIOS and enable XMP, select Profile 1 and should be good...if no joy try DRAM voltage at 1.55, ran into this with Corsair sticks a couple of times

As you guessed, the ram is a single package, 4 sticks of 4 gb. The model # is: CML16GX3M4A1600C9

I forgot to mention, cannot boot into BIOS, nor can I flash it. The cp boots up, give me a q code of 53, no display.

That's a DRAM code, try starting with 2 sticks in slots 1-3, if no joy try the other two stick, still nothing try with a single stick and get the BIOS updated - they had some DRAM problems with the initial BIOS..... for what it's worth, a 2x8GB set would have been better (I'm running 4x8GB Tridents 2666 on my Hero

So update Bios, then stick all of the ram on the mobo after the update? Also, just choose xmp profiles and it should be good right?
  7. Hopefully so, haven't popped any 4x4GB sets in mine yet (I normally run 32GB in all, but it's been fine with 1866, 2133, 2400 and the 2666 sticks, so hopefully the BIOS update will cover your set also

I managed to get into bios with only one stick (taking off my cooler is a pain, so i skipped a step). The ram profiles are set to xmp, I should still update bios right?
  9. I would, not positive what all it addressed, but early updates normally address some obvious issues that come up early so best to have that out of the way

Then, how do I update the BIOS.... Tried doing what the manual said... Was an utter failure, the file was not seen and if it was seen, i coudn't really select that one to update to...
  11. You downloaded it unzipped it and changed the name per the directions
