Hi, I'd just like some help with this. My budget for this build is $700, I'm thinking about this build for gaming.

(Note: I've found all of these in a combo deal at Newegg for $685.)

Thanks everyone!

I'd love to get the 760. But I'm pushing it with my budget as it is, and I think it'd break the combo deal with newegg. But, I'll check on combo deals with the 760! thanks for the reply!

Edit: No combo deals with the card in my budget :(

It may be something i'll have to upgrade later. Would that work as a dual GPU along side the 660?

You would be spending more money in the long run buying a whole other GPU later on than you would just by buying the 760 in the first place. It is only $30 more that way versus $250 more in the long run. For your optical drive, I have seen one that goes for about less than $20. Also, instead of buying 1 stick of 8GB RAM get 2 sticks of 4GB RAM each. I haven't looked at your motherboard but most motherboards support Dual-Channel memory which basically means it uses two sticks of RAM at the same time giving you better performance.

Thanks!
Yeah, I knew about the ram, I thought it was odd that the combo would only have one 8GB stick.

So, I suppose what I'll do is, instead of getting al of it at once with the combo deal, I'll buy in portions so I can get the 760 or better.

But other than that, is this a solid budget build with the 760?

But that's how they "get you" with those combo deals. Remember, it also doesn't hurt to wait till around November when they start coming out with Black Friday deals.
I believe it is a solid budget build. However, it doesn't hurt to do extra research on your own. When November comes around this is the GPU I am going to buy for my build. And I have done a LOT of research trying to find the right GPU for the budget and each time I get lead back to the 760. On Ultra settings, you can at least run 30-40fps on Crysis 3 (which is amazing!).

Yeah. I'll just start with my case, mobo, cpu, ram, etc.

My brother upgraded his nice Asus to a gtx 650 2gb, it runs all the games he plays with mods and stuff at 60fps with no problem. He has an i3 in his though. It's nice.

But Until I can afford the 760 I'll use his old gpu.

Also, I've done TONS of research for the past 3 months. I've put together about 5-6 builds. But I think this is the best one I've came up with so far. I don't know nearly as much about AMD as I do about Intel. Which is why I brought my build here and a few other sites. (this is the only site that actually gave me a good answer/feedback)

Thanks for that! I'll research some more and just buy everything as I can.

If anyone has any other suggestions about other components feel free to suggest!

No problem! I too have made like 10 builds but it's good because each time I make a new build, it is a more polished up version than the last. Good luck with your build! And you could possibly shave off about $60 by using the FX-6300 instead of the FX-8150. It has 6 cores and has about the same clock rate. And it is also unlocked so you can overclock it if you want to in the future.

Yeah. Although I think I'll stay with the FX-8150. I can manage! I was more worried with the budget if I'd have to buy it all at once. But now that I've ditched the combo deal I can just get what I need as I go, giving me more time to save some money. I'm also not going to get the LE version of the Motherboard and also upgrade to the Challenger U3 for usb 3.0.

I enjoy coming up with these builds though, and it'd be great to see one come together. I'm excited!

Thanks for all of your help man! I really appreciate it. Out of all the sites I've posted on this is the only one with actual good advice!
