Just got a new AMD FX 8320 cpus. I installed hardware monitor and have been checking out the temperatures and my CPU temps seem to stay below 30C yet my fans keep kicking on and off at like 4-5000 RPMS. Too loud. Why?

Solution
go into the bios and check the cpu fan, and see if you can adjust it so it can be slower. it might make your temps rise.

of course you can buy a quieter fan. thats why i asked about the case. i was gonna tell you to get a quieter fan.

It's just a random custom case I had. But like I said, airflow and temps don't seem to be a problem. I guess just the stock cpu fan/setting are a little off.

As nugget2 says, check your BIOS, as there is often a setting there for CPU fan speed linked to temperature. If the setting is disabled it can cause your fan to run at full speed all the time.
Oh, and is the fan wired to the motherboard or directly to your PSU? Only the motherboard will give it the temperature/speed control.

CPU fan is wired to the mobo. And all of the amd cool and quiet options are on. But my temps for my mobo are at like 40c just idle and fan RPMS are around 4500-5000 all the time.

Coolermaster makes very good parts and components. Before you go nuts replacing it, might try a little oil or lithium grease to see if the fan has a defect. If the noise is from a bad or uneven bearing in the fan it should be quieter when lubricated.

It's tolerable I guess, but fairly loud. My fan on the cpu runs at like 3500 rpm even when the system is idle at like 20.

So I guess i'm gonna order a Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo. Would that fit into my mobo socket with no problems?

I have GA-78LMT-USB3 Gigabyte motherboard.
