So I have a EVGA 012-P3-1571-KR GeForce GTX 570 HD w/Display-Port (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 and just want more performance. Would it be better to SLI this or to upgrade to a newer single GPU? And also, Would my PSU be able to handle it if I were to go the SLI route. Budget wise, I don't want to spend more than $300. My setup is:

HAF X case with extra fan installed on top

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8D

Rosewill LIGHTNING-800 800W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS GOLD, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623I52500K

ASUS P8P67 (REV 3.1) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 ST1000DM005/HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Mushkin Enhanced Chronos Deluxe MKNSSDCR60GB-DX 2.5" 60GB SATA III Synchronous MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus CPU cooler

2X ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner

Rosewill RCR-IC001 40-in-1 USB 2.0 3.5" Internal Card Reader w/ USB Port

Also, I OC my CPU to 4.5GHZ and use EVGA precision for my GPU. (clock is set at 800mhz and memory clock is 1950mhz. 1025mv for voltage.) Apologies for the long post. I copy and pasted from newegg. Thank you for any advice. It is very much appreciated.

I had it in the OP. I don't want to spend more than $300 dollars. Probably hard to see in the wall of text lol.

7970 is right in that budget but do know that the new line of 9000s are coming out. for RADEON

but 760 is your best bet

uses less power, runs cooler etc

Hmm.. When are the 9000 series coming out exactly? I don't need to upgrade ASAP. Just would like to do it sometime this year. And will any of them be in my price range?

the first and biggest problem for your 570 is that it only has 1.25gb of vram. that is just not going to cut it at 1080p gaming.

stick with a single gpu and wait for the amd cards to come out. supposedly they are being announced on sept 25th. they will be competitive as always and force price drops of the current generation nvidia cards.

sli/cf is generally not ideal, but for $300 you could just get two 7950's which are going to $200 now, thats $400 total, and sell your 570 for $100 and you would be far far faster than two 570s and have 1.75gb more vram for a total of 3gb.
