If your budget is really as crazy as you say it is ($15000), I would say go nuts and rebuild the system entirely but to be realistic this card will perform well in professional applications and its performance in games is a bit ahead of the 7870: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

So this card will have no trouble in any professional application that I can think of but if you really want to overdo it you could always get an AMD Firepro W9000 ($3400), an Nvidia Tesla K20 ($3500), or even an Nvidia Quadro 6000 ($3600)

There will be no compatibility issue with the MB or CPU you have with this GPU. So no worry. But if you used an AMD GPU before then you have to clean all the drivers related to AMD GPU and have to clean the registry entries too, other than that there will be no problem. Good luck.

If you are going for a workstation graphics card you should go for the AMD FirePro V4900.

I understand that you're looking for professional GPUs, but if you get this one:

I'm sure it will beautifully run anything you ask of it well into the future. I also realize that it is at the very edge of your price range, but it's a great deal for a 7950, so I would say go for it.
