Hi everyone
I mostly go to this forum for browsing but for my problem. Its still a puzzle for me

I built this system for a month now
This is the component
CPU AMD 8350
Mobo 990fxa ud3 rev3 fc
CPU cooler Corsair H80i
PSU Corsair HX 650v2
2x 8gb gskill 1866
Wd black 1tb
GPU Gigabyte 1gb 650Ti Oc

So I did some OC couple week ago and get it stable with 4.5 Ghz with 231 x 19.5
Vcore read at 1.44
But lately I did some more OC and for once time during test the computer shut off and reboot itself
So I revert to stable 4.5 state and run test again and it shutdown and reboot itself again without any given error. During test with OCCT, I see the clock throttling a lot as well, not sure if this normal?

I have checked the RAM with memtest and got no error with two passes so now Im almost sure that is PSU problem.

I dont have any spare PSU to test, thus unsure what else can I check
I just want to confirm that is really PSU problem, and is it void the warranty?
I have emailed Cosair for 3 days ago but no reply from them yet.

Any oppinion guys?
Thanks in advance and appriciate eith any help
Cheers

My opinion is you do not know how to overclock and there's probably nothing wrong with your power supply, the only AMD 8350 I could find is an AMD FX-8350, which means it is an unlocked multiplier CPU so Why?

Are you raising the FSB to 231 to overclock it?

You are creating your own instability.

Leave the FSB at 200 and raise the multiplier to 22.5 for a 4.5ghz overclock, once you get the multiplier past a certain point you'll have to increase the CPUs supplied voltage or Vcore voltage to stabilize it.

But before you go raising Vcore voltage learn your CPUs limitations first!

Try also dropping that memory speed manually to 1600mhz at timings of 9,9,9,24 Command Rate 2T 1.5v

As far as an AMD raised multiplier overclock the Black Edition Guide stickied above, has some of the same similarities of the FX multiplier overclocking, and it will help you begin to understand what you are doing.

Hi Ryan
Thanks for your reply
Your are right
I'm new to overclocking
I know about raising multiplier, but read a lot of thread and they say combine fbs and multiplier give better performance
This OC I did base on tutorial OC for bulldozer and similar mobo, and I though they are similar
I guess I need to stick with multiplier then
But computer shutdown and reboot by itself during test is normal?
and for the ram I can't find command rate T2 anywhere on giga mobo
Thanks

I have an AMD FX-6300 anyone telling you to overclock and unlocked multiplier CPU by raising the FSB is so stuck in the old school days they don't know what they're talking about!

And obviously it has not worked for you? Has it?

The guide I linked will help you more than that.

Gigabyte may name it something besides Command Rate, but trust me it's in there somewhere, when you find it, set it to 2T, some M/Bs reference it as 2N.

Thanks again Ryan
Before I post this topic, I restored the bios and did prime95 for 5hrs, when I get home and check event viewer and found out computer run with prime95 blend test 5 hours with no problem. I think my PSU is fine after all :D
Your guide and other similar I read for more than one time but that is the easiest (that's why I didn't do :D)
I follow your instruction and up it to 4.5Ghz with memory 1600 T2 command rate Vcore 1.42 temp 38 (cooler run in silent mode)
But when I do OCCT linpack test the clock rate up and down a lot, is it normal? I have disabled all save energy feature in bios as well as boost option as well

It's probably a BIOS setting that needs to be disabled, but I am not familiar with the Gigabyte BIOS, if you cannot figure it out on your own PM me and I'll download your M/B manual and look through your BIOS setting options, but I would appreciate it, if you would give your best try to resolve it yourself, before you PM me. Thanks Ryan
