Lower the settings :p

is it on maps with a high number of players? that'll probably be the cpu bottlenecking you. my Q9550 used to do it.

Sounds like a CPU problem. Whats your CPU and GPU usage in game?

83 % cpu usage , i dont think i need to lower the settings cz the average is 50 fps

Yes it's not a GPU problem it's a CPU problem

The i3 cant keep up with BF3 multi player, My FX 6300/8320 @ 4.4ghz will get frames drops from 80+ to mid 50's or high 40's depends on the map. lower your settings a bit, mesh quality tax your CPU alot. I have a good system but i run BF3 on auto sometimes because FPS matters most

It should make it a little better but your gonna need to upgrade at some point. My suggestion is lower your settings until then.

You can't overclock your cpu :p

CPU bottleneck get a Quad core i5 and you be alright then OC the GPU you can even go GTX 650 ti sli if your mobo supports and and you got PSU for it and then you get stable 60 fps at that res :D  also get another 4gb stick of ram will help little bit too.

The OP's motherboard only has one PCIe slot.

That i3 isn't enough for bf3 at ultra on most MP maps

Yeah but we're talking about MP

Hmm, sorry for the double post, odd. Anyway i will rephrase my post to be more clear

It's a faster CPU, so yeah it runs better, but you can't oc these ones so he's stuck on bad performance. Just barely that's why it runs better on a slightly faster CPU.

If your GPU is only a 1GB then your GPU is a problem as well, as I understand it you need 2GB Vmem to run Ultra and some even argue High settings, I have Effects, Textures, Terrain Decal turned to Ultra, the rest on High, Anti Deferred @ 4xMSAA, Aniso Filter @ 16x, and Motion Blur/Ambient turned off. And I average 40 to 60fps on even the largest maps with 64players, that is unless I manage a vantage point where I can see most of the battle from a distance then thats where 2GB of Vmem would help i hit mid 20's to 30's when viewing the battle like this.

Current System:
CPU: Phenom II x6 1065T w/Cooler Master Hyper TX3 with 2 fans
RAM:16GB 1333 G.Skill RipJaws
GPU:XFX Radeon R7850 Ultra OC Edition 1GB w/ARCTIC Accelero TT II VGA Cooler
MOBO:MSI NF750-G55
PSU:Cool Power Gamer Pro CP-GP775 775W

Im glad I got 2gb card in my laptop as games require just over 1gb in some games now. Its always good to have that extra bit of graphics memory.

Yes at these settings my memory on the GPU stays maxed out at 982mb which is what my monitor and second desktop is not using. Cannot wait to get a second 7850 Ultra OC to stop this.

The i3 is a really good cpu but it is really 2 fast cores with hyper threading. I have the same gpu and that is not your problem.
try high instead of ultra. A i5 would be the next best move.

its cpu bound, its the other players, you should not have this problem so much on a lightly populated map, I found 32player tdm to be the problem.
