Hi hope every one is doing good, lately i have been facing a problem my fps suddenly drops in all games for 2-4 seconds and makes it unplayable well first i saw the temperatures my processor seemed to overheat i gave it a look and saw the thermal past ran out i applied that again and the temps seem ok now but still the fps drops drastically every now then in games i paly heroes of newerth though my pc is a very low end one i used to play before perfectly fine its a dual core 2.8 2 gbram and nividia 210 i played before on medium to low setting without any hiccups now i think its my powersupply thats causing that lag because when i saw the hardware moniter the psu was giving a minimum of 8.98v and max of 9.03 on +12v i dont know how to upload a picture i can upload the picture of hardware moniter for you to see the temps and voltage yourself
Thanks

Your power supply usage shouldn't cause the drop in fps per se. If you were exceeding the draw rate on the power supply you would probably not have gotten to the higher fps's to begin with. i would try checking to see if there are other settings you can turn down in the software (decrease shaders, focal points, or shadow options, etc. in the game that may use more card power) for the game or updating the video card driver. I would also expect you to see more overheating on the card as the power to multiple items including the fans running the cooling systems would probably be slowed. My guess is when the thermal paste dried out or ran you card was damaged by the overheating and is not working properly. Might look for a cheap replacement card and see if it works in place of your current card.

the thermal paste was for the processor how can it damage the gpu and my gpu temp are fine at max load they go on 62c else they are 45c. And i did not change the game settings i play it like before without any lag but suddenly huge fps drops for 2-3 seconds. I will try and update the driver and see what happens

If it is a new problem and there have been no recent updates to the game, than I would say to first go and update your GPU driver and motherboard BIOS and if the problem persists you might want to consider doing a fresh install of Windows, adding another 2gb of RAM, or upgrading your GPU to something more modern.
First off though, uninstall unused programs, defrag your HDD, restart your computer, and clean up the registry if you know how.

it only lags periodically even when not much is going on in game if it had been a update lag it would cause lag in over all game . how do i clean the registry ?

It's a pain and involves the regedit program (run->regedit) but I really would advise against it if you don't know what you're doing as you could pretty easily mess up your machine.

Honestly if you did all the maintenence (and updated and cleaned out old drivers) I don't know what else could be causing it. Try running CPU tests with Prime95 or similar to see if it is throttling from getting too hot. If so, that's an easy fix and you just have to get an aftermarket CPU cooler.
