Hello.

I am wondering at what settings shall I overclock my GPU. I want to make it as powerful as the hd 7970. Please can you list me the memory clock etc... Including the voltage. Please make sure that it will be stable and not decrease life span! Thanks!

Solution
You can get close, depending on which 7950 you have.

The HIS IceQ2 is one of the best voltage unlocked 7950's and routinely OC's to the 1200/1500 range.

Most other good 7950's, even voltage locked, will easily do 1100-1150/1400-1450.

The biggest thing to watch is your temps. To hit these speeds all of these cards use beefed-up 3rd party cooling solutions.

The 7970 has more stream processors (2048 vs 1792), more texture units (128 vs 112) and higher clock rates on memory and engine clock (varies depending on manufacturer). You can overclock the 7950 to close the gap a little, but there is nothing that you can do about the lost performance from fewer processor units. The extra processors in the 6950's could be unlocked with a bios update, but the 7950's were physically cut off during manufacturing.

I will be using different programs to check out the temperature of the GFX when overclocked. I will also check stability and the voltage will be in the 1.25 range. What do you think about me going to 1130?
