Might I need to reapply the thermal paste?

I used the pea drop method with a 212 plus but when I was pressing it down, a little bit squeezed off one side which I quickly wiped away with a q tip. Does this mean I might want to reapply it? Also, the HS was slipping and sliding as I was preparing the locking mechanism exposing a bit of the paste on the sides to the air... Would this also cause problems?

Solution
Redo thermal past if you just used the "pea" size blob as that is for the Flat" surface HSs.

The Pea size blob is for "Flat" smooth surface HSF.
.. Rather than placing this on the HS bottom, I prefer to put CPU and spread as even as I can uing my finger (Use a latex glove).

For the 212. It has little valleys along the Heat pipes.
.. What you want to do is first FIll the Valleys then use a credit card to "scape" the surface so only the Valleys Have thermal paste.
..Two choices:
1) Use a diaganal line accross the base of the HS, then seat.
2) My prefered is to put a "slightly" smaller than a pea on the CPU and spread with finger (I use a latex glove). Then seat.

After having reapplied the paste by filling the gaps by scraping a bit of paste onto the surface with a card and using the 2 thin lines method, my idle has lowered itself to 40- degrees. It is like 30 degrees over here so is 40- acceptable? It seems to continue lowering very very slowly after the initial jump in CPU usage when booting up.

CPU temp under full load using prime95 is idling at 73 degrees. The weird thing is, this kind of stuff is not new to me and in the past, I have built a system using the evo and a phenom 965 overclocked to 3.8 with temperatures significantly lower than this... Although admittedly it wasn't during the peak of summer.
