A friend of mine gave me a gateway profile 4 all in one desktop computer. It was given to her by someone and she had never used it so knows nothing about it. I am pretty sure not all of the parts in it are the original default ones seeing as it has a 475 gig hard drive and 1.5g of ram now. Anyway, I did a clean install of windows xp and updated to sp3. Got most of the drivers installed and everything is fine except for the audio. In everest it says under the multimedia/ audio adapter part that I have "Intel 82801EB ICH5 - AC'97 Audio Controller [A-2/A-3]". I looked this up and downloaded the driver for it and it forces my pc into a restart at the same point in the installation everytime. Thank you for your time hopefully there is an easy fix for this problem.

You can try an older driver, or look on the oem website to see if that is the right audio card for your all-in-one.

Unfortunatly the gateway all-in-ones (espically from that era) where not beacons of build quility, and the internals are basically a laptop motherboard with a desktop hard drive.

Only other option i have is to buy a usb sound card for it.

Thanks, I'll give those options a try and post back.
