Do i need to partition an SSD if i will be using it on as the boot drive? and do i need to partition the hdd that will only be used as the storage drive?

Its a personal choice. If you like storing things in separate partition then go for it. If you like having it all on as few drives as possible then don't. (Partitions show up as individual drives to the user.)
