Hi!

Recently I bought an HP Envy 15 Laptop for college (and a little gaming). I have a small problem with it though. When plugging in my headphones into my laptop, the volume does not adjust, compared to my Windows 7 desktop, which does. For example, I am listening to some music from the laptop's speakers at high volume, but when I plugged in my headphones, the volume remains at high. I checked my volume control options and do not see a headphones option, just the speaker. When I checked under playback, the headphones were disabled. After re enabling it, the volume does change when I plugged in my headphones. However, the sound does not play from my headphones, but from the speakers instead. Only for a split second do I hear sound from my headphones. What can I do to fix this?

Should be an easy fix. Right click on the volume icon in your taskbar, click playback devices, right click where it shows the devices listed, click show disconnected devices and show disconnected devices ( may not have to just make sure there's a checkmark by both of them when you right click). Finally disable the speakers and enable the headphones. If that works, you can go back and enable the speakers too.

Thank you for your reply. However, after trying your suggestion, nothing changes. Is there a way for the volume to automatically adjust when you plug in headphones?
