I'm looking to upgrade my 460 gtx to a 760 gtx in the near future here. But I'm not sure if my computer can handle it. I'm not very savvy when it comes to the internals of my computer. Here are my specs:

Motherboard - MSI , Model MS-7668

Processor - i5 K 655 @ 3.20 GHz

RAM - 8gb

PSU - 500w (I'm thinking of upgrading to 750)

Windows 7 64 bit

I would appreciate any input you may have so I can place my order soon.

Regards,

Ryan

From what I see it has 2 x PCI-E x 16 slots so it should work.

WHen you upgrade your psu, the wattage is not the only factor to look for, quality is the thing to look for. A cheap psu may say "1000watt epic gamerz power supply!" But it may only actually output 700-800 watts and blow up/ catch fire when put with a heavy load. What is the model and brand of your current psu? Your rig seems so old, you might wanna consider replacing it entirely.

If you have a decent PSU it should work. You may see some bottlenecking but it will be a big improvement. Just because you have an older system doesn't mean it is obsolete. The 760 could be the start of the upgrade of your computer. After some time with the GPU you could look at upgrading your CPU/MB/RAM.
