Background Intelligent Transfer Service won't start- error 1290

Windows could not start the BITS service on Local Computer.

Error 1290: The service start failed since one or more services in the same process have an incompatible service SID type setting. A service with restricted service SID type can only coexist in the same process with other services with a restricted SID type. if the service SID type for this service was just configured, the hosting process must be restarted in order to start this service.

That is the error code I get. Basically, I can't start the BITS service, which I need to repair Windows Update.

Try that tool. I found it and it has been a life save multiple times. Its a AiO and works for XP, Vista, 7 and most of 8. I would run pretty much everything on the list except the "Unhide non system files".

Thanks, I'll try that now. If it doesn't work, I'll post back here.
