I have a Gateway DX4885-UR21. http://us.gateway.com/gw/en/US/content/model/DT.GEDAA.002[1]
I want to add a graphics card because it only has Intel HD graphics and I was thinking something like:

or

I just want to be able to run Battlefield 3 without lag. The higher the graphics quality the better. I'd like to keep it under $100.

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.20GHz
RAM: 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz
HD: 932GB Seagate ST1000DM003-9YN162 (SATA)

I would recommend the 7750. I played battlefield 3 on it on high settings I could get it to run around 35 FPS+. Especially since it doesn't require any external power connectors it's perfect for your 300 watt PSU.

Doesn't it depend on the PC though? Is there any way to check how much of my PSU is actually used?

I used to run a fx 4100 it has a higher TDP than your current processor and I could still run my system. I'm pretty sure it will work.
