Hi Guys,

Two days ago I bought MSI 7970 Lightning Ghz Edition. After I increase the both memory and GPU clock more than 600Mhz I am getting Black screen while I am playing BF3 or Dirt 2.

My Pc:

Asus P8Z77-V LX motherboard
OCZ mod extreme pro 600W PSU
Core i7 3770
8GB RAM
128GB SSD and 500GB HDD

Guys, do I want to RMA the card or I need to change the power supply? What should be the solution?

Thanks.

PS: Previously, I had Gigabyte Windforce GTX 770. I didn't have black screen when I play games even while I am testing on the Furmark. But had the random Black screen, If I install driver, so I did RMA the card and I bought this card.

You mean... you tried to actually overclock it to 1.75 GHz ? o_o Don't be suprised if it black screens, I get black screens for 180 MHz overclocks sometimes...

The default is some where around 1 GHz, but I under clocked to 600Mhz then I will get black screen. Now I under clock again to 400MHz, now I will be able to play BF3 @ 30 FPS no black screen problem. I don't know what to do, RMA or New PSU... I mean 600W is not enough?

Your power supply has enough wattage.
Can you give me a link to your GPU ?

Wait why are you manually increasing the clock rate? The GPU itself handles that. If its idle then you leave it to auto and let it clock itself up.

Also what are you using to clock the GPU? MSI Afterburner? CCC?

I think its because you are messing with the clock speeds TBH.

Hi, let me rephrase this. Actually, I didn;t overclock even on the default clock rate the card is making black screen problem. So now I underclocked to 500/500 GHz. I did't get any black screen problem yet. I am using CCC for underclock.

Please note, the black screen problem only occurring when I play games not in the Idle mode. Also, I have Kill-A-Watt Power cord, when black screen comes I tested the Power consumption, it happened when it rise to 366W. But I have 600W PSU.

Just today I bought 900W PSU, but still the problem is there. If select default in the AMD performance tab and run the Battlefield 3. After it comes to the game, I get black screen and I had to hard reset the computer. Please help me.!!!
