I am losing internet after between 30 seconds and 10 min. Nothing I do seems to have any affect on this time it is completely random. Other computers in the house are working fine. In order to fix this problem I have been unplugging my wireless card and plugging it back in. This however is not a long term fix it only resets the clock and will stop working again after 30seconds to 10 min.

I am using windows 7 64.
Belkin router with a Belkin wireless card.

I assembled this computer myself about 2 years ago and this is the first major problem I have had that I was not able to fix on my own. Any information you need that is not already given please let me know and how I might go about getting it.

thank you in advance

Solution
> control panel > device manager > network adapters > right click hit properties > Power Management tab > uncheck computer can turn off this device.

If thats already unchecked you might need to go into Control panel > power > (whatever setting your using) hit edit plan settings > hit advanced settings > then USB settings > selective suspend setting > make sure its disabled.

I had this problem recently, it took me quite a while to figure this one out. In the end it helped a bit but my problem was I had an outdated driver.

Thank you for your quick response I changed both of those settings that you recommended however the problem has not been resolved. I updated my wireless card driver and it did not fix the problem. Is there another driver I should update?

Hm, I'm not entirely sure then. When your internet "dies" can you still safely remove it? (as in actually going down to the task bar and hitting safely remove)

Does it show up in device manager? Also if it has a light on it does it show any activity? Are you using a USB cable? If so how long?
