Now I know I shouldn't but I am going to anyway. I really want a keypad so I can play from the sofa with ease and comfort and I hate using the controller when I don't have to. So I wondered if anyone could shine some light on a good keypad?
I am currently stuck between:
The Razer/Belkin Nostromo

And the Razer Tartarus

I can pick up a nostromo for £49.99 on ebay from Dabs UK but the Tartarus is only sold at Razer at the moment and costs £69.99 so yeah, do you think it'd be worth the extra £20? Or wait to see what happens to the Tartarus price etc.

It depends on what kind of games you are playing. I'd certainly not recommend the gaming keypads for FPS. I find the Nostromo only useful for MMOs and in certain cases, RPGs. Also, I wouldn't recommend playing on a keypad if you plan to also use a keyboard. Once you go from one to another, it can be jarring, akin to switching from an Xbox controller to a keyboard & mouse. If you still really want to buy a keypad, I would recommend the Razer Nostromo. I have tried the Tartarus, and it doesn't feel as different from the Nostromo to the point that I don't think it is worth spending £30 more on. Yes, it has more customisable keys, but I'd save your money and buy the Nostromo.

Reiterating my previous point, I would recommend you buying a keyboard and mouse combination if you plan to play FPS games. My personal recommendation would be the Razer Deathadder and the Razer BlackWidow. But, if you'd prefer a keypad, go ahead.
In conclusion: What genre of games do you plan to play?
