Hello, I'm investing in a 1440P monitor and I need a CPU BIG TIME. I mean, my HD 7870 GHz might barely be enough for medium settings in 1440P gaming, But my CPU is a Phenom II x4 840.

So, my question here is, if I buy a FX 8320 and OC it to... idk, 4.5 GHz, would that be good enough for 1440P? I was considering a 4770K, but I don't think Haswell is worth it right now. Plus I still have faith in AMD releasing AM3+ SteamRoller CPUs next year. I simply need something that will get the Job done. I could care less about my Maximum FPS as I'm currently gaming with a HD 7870 GHz. I should be able to get a Medium/High mix. Also, can someone give me a ball park on temps? I'm going to be using Air cooling. Possibly a V8 GTS

Either get the 8350 or 3570k. If you're just trying to buy a cpu as a holdover to the next generation, then the 8320 oc'd will be fine.

Just get a hyper 212 EVO as your fan/heatsink. It works marvelously. If not that, then pick one from noctua.

If you air cool a hyper 212 evo will do better than that V8. That AMD cpu will not bottleneck any of your GPUs though waiting around for the "next" thing from either intel/amd gets you nowhere, I would personally recommend the 3570k Ivy as its what I've got and I've been a AMD fanboy as far as I can remember.
