So I am planning to get a somewhat acceptable gaming system. This is my first build, but I am confident that I can put everything together correctly. The only thing that worries me is my CPU and GPU. Here is my planned build:

Everything comes out to just over $510 with taxes, shipping and rebates. Like I said, I'm just really skeptical about the CPU and GPU. I somewhat know that with some updated drivers for the 7770, it makes everything a little better. Thanks in advance!

That CPU will bottleneck your GPU a little bit. But if you're really on a tight budget, it should be fine. This setup will play at medium settings bro. And in the future if you plan on upgrading your CPU, you can because it's an am3+ board. Or if you can save a little bit, get the fx 6300.

The GPU is about the best you'll get at that price point. The market for GPUs is extremely competitive and mature - the prices generally reflect what you get pretty well when talking current and recent-gen purchases.

Not a fan of the CPU choice. Pay the $20 and get a IIx4 965. It made sense to try to unlock that 4th core (always iffy) 3 years ago when there was a significant price break, but the Phenom IIx4s are budget CPUs at this point.

I think I'm going to go with the FX 6300, as newegg is not selling said Phenoms. I should have mentioned that I only have $550 on a gift card.
