I have a Hp pavilion dv6.And after installing the new 326.80 driver from Geforce experience. It prompted me to restart my computer just like usual so I did. After shutting down normally it would not get past the starting windows screen. So I shut it down and I received a message telling me windows could not start properly. I did the recommended thing and started the repair service and it told me that my problem was in fixable according to them. So I tried booting in safe mode and the screen starts to load the core drivers and then just sits there forever. Doing a system restore was my other option. So I went to my most recent restore point (2 days before installing the driver) and it restores everything and says it is successful so I restart as I am prompted to. The computer gets past the windows boot screen and goes black and then sits there. I have tried these options numerous times but to no avail. If anyone has any suggestions ad to how to at least get me to my desktop so I can roll back the driver please let me know.

Although it worked for me on a pc, i would try removing the power(unplugging on my pc) as far into the boot up process as possible. Mind you, this was after i was able to hear a windows log on screen(and pure black screen) that seemed to not be seeing the graphics card. This way, windows considered itself shut down wrongfully and thus gave an option of safe mode when restarting. After unplugging(or removing battery), then reinstall power supply(battery or plug). Probably won't work for you but worth a shot anyway.

I think it's a HDD problem. You should try running a Check disk. GO to MY COMPUTER, RIGHT Click on the Hard Drive that has the installed windows, Press Properties, SELECT CHECK DISK, AND CHECK BOTH BOXES, LASTLY restart your PC. It might take a while but It'll fix some problems. Good luck

i mustn't have mentioned that I can't get onto my computer at all. So I can't do anything in the control panel or my computer. Is there any way to complete this action in the bios?

If you have a Windows 7 Disc, you can boot up the recovery console in your PC.
After you boot up the Disc, select system recovery options. then select command prompt.
then type: chkdsk C: /r if the Drive containing the windows installation is C:

That's the thing I bought the laptop with windows pre installed on it. I don't have a windows disk. All I have is the bios and windows restore point. If I can run the system with integrated graphic instead of the nvidia one that should work but I see no option to do this in the bios

Safe mode is not working at. all so I can't run check disk. I need to be able to do these things from the BIOS or figure out another way to get to the desktop.

My issue was when I was loging in I got a cursor in my main screen and then nothing a black screen , in which I could use task manager to open up chrome and that was it. In the begining I thought windows media player libraries were the problem , still nothing.

finally after many failed attempts here is what worked for me.

In safe mode I uninstalled everything (as all other previous times before)

redownloaded the drivers. and installed them (326.80beta) again.

from the last good startup I had surround enabled and only a side monitor could switch on (weird) and show image

I connected the dvi jack of the main screen on the onboard vga and used that as my main screen. Then there I opened the nvidia control panel
and enabled the monitors still connected on my nvidia gtx 690

Then I moved the dvi jack from the onboard vga to the gtx690.

And enabled this monitor also.

So far I have done 3 restarts and I still get the windows task bar and everything.

Will report back if the problem reappears

Edit 2nd September: Again I see the same old black screen.
I am waiting for Nvidia's updated whql driver.

Why are you running a BETA driver? BETA implies that there will be problems. Unless the latest driver (BETA or not) fixes a specific issue that you are experiencing, or you are participating (actively) in the BETA test there is no valid reason to be updating drivers.
