Hello There Peeps.

I just installed my new CPU and the cooling system i am using is a H60i with a Push,Pull config. Once i start the PC it goes through the L.E.Ds (Motherboard is a Asus M5970 Evo R2.0) and it stops on the boot device (even that shows that there isnt a problem) and then it turns off.

Could it be that i didnt used the amout of thermal paste (tried to make it a size of a pea). Or is it how the cpu heater mount isnt installed properly?.

More about : shuts overheating

H60i pump is probably faulty. It's a common problem with corsair loops. Yes, it is over heating and if you changed your cooler to stock it'll probably work.

But the stock cooler doesn't fit on my motherboard.

Download a CPU temperature measurer, this is a good way to tell. But yes this sounds just like overheating. Mine recently did this - I found out mine was heavily clogged with dust, and I also re-applied thermal paste. (was at 115c at max!! :o ), now back down to a nice 45.

(although the computer stopped working completely 3 days later... Oops)

I would suggest leaving your computer to cool down completely and then switching it on - does it still fail on the boot device? if so I don't think it is an overheating issue

In that case I agree with imkvn - get a new cpu cooler, or even try an old one from another machine or something?
