Hello everyone,

I am building a new gaming rig with the following specs:

CPU: Intel i7-i4770k
Motherboard: MSI Z87 XPower
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Water 3.0 Extreme
Memory: G. Skill TridentX 16GB DDR3-2400 (CL 10)
Storage: OCZ Vertex 450 2.5" SSD 256GB
Graphics cards: 2 x MSI 780GTX Gaming Edition
Case: Cooler Master Cosmos II
Display: Dell Ultrasharp2713HM

I plan to keep using in this build some parts from the pc i am using right now:

Power supply: Enermax Revolution 85+ 1250W
Additional storage: OCZ Vertex 3 125GB + Seagate Barracuda 2TB
Operating System: Windows 7 Home edition 64 Bit

I plan to use the system to do some mild overcloking and hardcore gaming @ 1440p.
My main concerns about this build are the following:

Motherboard: Do I need MSI Z87 Xpower, I have seen that the MSI Z87 Mpower Max is 150 euros cheaper and i am not sure about the differences between these two motherboards...

Graphic Cards: I have read in several places that MSI 780GTX Lightning Edition is coming out next 27th August. Will it be worth to wait for the new edition? Will it be much more expensive than the gaming one?

Power supply: Is my old power supply enough or should i be getting a new one?

Operating System: Would you use Windows 8 64-bit in this new system or would you stay with Windows 7?

Its a lot of reading and several questions so I want to thanks in advance all the people that will invest some of their time answering my doubts.

Feel free to make any additional comments about the build you may have.

Best regards

Your build wastes allot of $$.

Choose either board, I would go with MSI Z87 Mpower Max the difference between the two is sata ports, and PCIE ports, audio channels.

gtx 770s would be better and most likely are tuned down 780s

if your going SLI one GFX card recommends 600 PSU. x2 would be 1200 plus your CPU power and all other components. You would need a 1400 PSU

Windows 8 v2 is coming out in November. More people prefer win 7.

one 780 would give you good performance on a 27 inch.

Apparently of all the MSI boards this is the one to get...

Yes your PSU is more than enough but as for your case id swap out the horrible over expensive Cosmos and buy this instead..Look at all those awards.
