How do I know the Motherboard is at fault?

I am trying to see if I can repair my computer myself because something seems to be wrong with it. This is my current issue:

The problem started after a power outage. The computer was turned on and it was running a game during the power outage. The computer would not power on even though it was plugged into a surge protector. Pressing the power button on the computer shows no response. No lights turn on. The computer acts as if it is not even plugged in. No sounds are heard from the computer either.

-I reset the power supply and swapped the power supply out for a new one to see if the power supply was at fault. I tested the old power supply and then the new one. They both work fine.

-I have been told that the problem could be the Motherboard. But how can I know if the Motherboard is not working? What signs should I receive? Is there a way to test the Motherboard to see if it is in working condition or not?

-I was also told it could be that the power switch for the computer has stopped working. But I do not know how to test this theory.

-I don't know my exact Motherboard model but the small details I do know are that it is a GIGABYTE Ultra Durable motherboard.

I would like to find out what the problem is for the computer. I am really hoping it is a minor problem because this computer was purchased about 9 months ago.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my issue. :)

if you want to test to see if its the switch discconect the jumpers off the mobo and use a screwdriver etc and touch those 2 pins. It should turn on,its highely unlikely its the switch since they never really go bad. I'm thinking the surge protector you were using didnt might not have been a high enough joule rating and could have not protected you computer. In most cases it will just kill your power supply and not your computer. What Power supply were you using as well? I would contact gigabyte and rma it

If you bought a new PSU and still doesn't work then it's most likely the mobo got fried. As 06yfz450ridr said if you get a screw driver and find the power pins (usually located on PANEL1 with 16 pins) if your lucky it should be labelled
