My PC only reads 4gb of my 2x4gb ram

I've been worrying a little that I am not getting the most out of my build because my PC only reads 4gb of my 2x4gb ram. I am using a G.Skill RipJaws X (Dual) 2x4gb ddr3 1866 CL9 for my memory. I notice this every time I run the task manager, the status only shows 4gb in the memory tab. And also when I install games where it detects the system hardware if it meets the requirements. (Example is Dishonored)

Also, I am using a 64bit OS (Win8 Pro).

you could also have a defective piece of equipment, there is a 1-5% chance that this happens.

Try running your computer with one stick only. If that works, try the other stick. If both work individually, there is probably a problem with your Mobo.
