Manually Setup Internet Line?

I've just moved into a new house and I can't get internet set up here until September 4. My provider has already sent someone out and he's got all the cables set up I think. Is there a way I can finish the rest of this myself? Since the DSL line is already connected to my house, what's left to do? I already have a modem from my previous place too so I could use that I suppose.

Thanks for any help.

If the DSL line is already set up you just need to attach a data/voice splitter inside the house to the particular line that has the DSL and attach a modem. It may not work, but no harm in trying. If you attach it correctly you should get a set up page and may need to call tech support to assist in authorizing your modem.

I usually just get out there with some jumpers, wire cutters, a multimeter and gel caps, and set it up the way that I want it (sometimes with a bit of experimentation), although I have a pretty complex multi-line arrangement with electronic gate speakers/controllers that took quite a bit of time to understand. If you are feeling bold give it a shot, at the least be there and watch everything the installer does so...

Oh wow that sounds way more complicated than I imagined. That might be a bit out of my league. The previous owners of this house had DSL from the same provider here and I'm pretty sure the connections and stuff are still here, the service just got cut off when they moved out. So with that could I just attach a modem? I think I'll just try that and if I don't have any luck I'll try to be patient and wait a couple weeks. Thanks for you help!
