i'm using a custom water loop with 2 240mm rad, temps still go on the 60+ side ^^ and yes, i'm using a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS4 with the P45 chipset
Silicon is really robust in there, the only problem is the heat generation and honestly, i wasn't thinking this chip will still run today, my cousin give me the chip with a rampage as it wasn't booting anymore, he buyed a Q9300 or something like that and give me a defect rampage (got another one by warranty, it failed on me again so i change brand and this gigabyte board WOW !!
I wasn't just thinking of running this computer 24/7 10 years long, i was more: it'll fail in this year but it'll be fun and as it cost me 200$ for a motherboard, that's it i wasn,t really affraid of burning it... I also have a P4 3.4ghz (SL8K4) on socket 478pin that is still doing 4.35Ghz with ddr1-400 OC to 512mhz with 256Mhz of FSB ^^ but the ram burn 3 times in this one, next time it burns, i'm affraid it'll be crashed as good DDR1 kit is now more than just rare
Not to say, i'll buy another Intel CPU as they all OC like this now, in the early years, like P4, i remember choosing my chip carefully, i wanted a SL7PP but price was crazy and then the SL8K4 just came out, i jumped on it and got it for 150$ when the SL7PP (old version that OC really great but less than the SL8K4) was like 300+$ !!!
