Hello, i got a nasty bug last week and after wasting time trying to kill, i decided that to save time and my sanity i'll just reformat. While noodling around with Win8 (heh im an old XP grognard), i found the refresh feature and decided to give it a try. Basically it's like a Win8 reinstall but it saves all of your old data in another huge honking file called windows.old, a very interesting feature and i decided to give it a try.

It went off without a hitch and it seemed to have kept alot of files and instead of purging everything except the OS. I found that my wifi drivers were still installed and i tried to go on the internet. I'm now getting the no/limited connection issue. It tells me i have no valid IP address (lost in the purge im guessing), and after some research i tried to reset my router and unpluging replugging my usb internet adaptor to no avail. My next step when i go home is to reinstall the wifi drivers, but i'm hoping there's a simple fix to my woes.

Thank you in advance for your time and advice.

Full Edit: I decided to just purge and nuke my computer and went with a full reinstall. Initially the internet works after i put in the password for my router and then minutes later it stops working. It connects to the router with a strong signal, but i cant get internet access anymore. It goes limited connectivity and i run all the trouble shooter options and nothing works (reset router, unplug/replug USB wifi dongala). I've tried reinstalling Win8 again and it does the same exact thing. Internet works for a bit, then all of a sudden no more internet access.

I think it says something about lacking a validated IP, but i followed all the steps and nothing's happening.

Please help, i'm at my wit's end. I already did 2 full reinstalls on my SSD, which i heard was really bad for its lifespan, but i'm super desperate in getting my computer back into working order.
